Put a Little Oil On It, Baby

So, umm… You know how I’m (slightly) obsessed with growing my hair long? Well this means I’m also (slightly) obsessed with deep conditioning hair treatments:-) especially natural oil treatments I can do at home.

I found a killer new one that you can make at home.  It involves the following fabulous five oils: coconut, almond, jojoba, macadamia nut, and vitamin e.  Yes, all of these oils also have amazing skin and health benefits, but more on that later.  Lets focus on what they can do for our hair.

Hair oil treatment

You will need:

  1. 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  2. 1 Tbsp of almond oil
  3. 1 tbsp of jojoba oil
  4. 1 tbsp of macadamia oil
  5. 1 tbsp of vitamin e oil

Directions: mix all oils together and store in a reusable container.

(Personally, I like using a spray bottle because it’s easier to apply to the hair this way)

Then section off hair (starting at bottom and working up) applying the oil mixture to the hair mid shaft to ends.  Make sure you apply enough oil to coat each section thoroughly.

Continue until all sections are coated.

Clip up hair and leave on for 20 minutes then shampoo your roots.

*note to self:  do not apply the ENTIRE mixture to hair all at once , unless you want to create an oil skating rink on your bathroom floor. Yes, I’m speaking from experience. Oops.
